Colin Drummond, Viridor chief executive, featured on ‘The Bottom Line’; a cutting edge business news programme broadcast on Radio 4 and BBC News 24.
‘The Bottom Line’, hosted by Dragons Den host Evan Davies, is a business conversation show interviewing key industry professionals to provide an insight into what matters in the business world.
Colin discussed and debated key topics affecting the current and future direction of businesses in the areas of waste management, automation vs. human resourcing and the benefits of business away days.
Host, Evan Davies commented on Colin’s longer than average stint as Viridor’s CEO whilst Colin talked of the “frankly mind-blowing” systems in place, including the optical sort and air knife technology that separates HDPE and PET in Material Recycling Facilities (MRF’s). Colin said; “It’s extraordinary technology and I still can’t really believe it does work”.
Colin appeared alongside two other chief executives from different industries; Mike Lynch of Autonomy – a leading software technology company and Doug Anderson of Carlson Wagonlit Travel – a global company specialising in business travel management.
‘The Bottom Line’ was broadcast on Radio 4 on Thursday at 8.30pm and will be repeated on Saturday 16 July at 5.30pm.
The show will also feature on BBC News 24 on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July at 10.30pm. Both broadcasts will also be available on the BBC World’s website and on BBC iPlayer.
