January 18, 2018 ,

Members of Chirnside Juniors football club receive their £400 from Viridor's Charitable Donations Committee.

Chirnside Juniors football club will be able to buy new training equipment for its young players after receiving  a £400 donation from Viridor’s Charitable Donations Committee.

Stephen Higginbottom, who is one of the Assistant Shift team leaders for the Operations team at the new  £177 million energy recovery facility being built in Dunbar and  one of the  Chirnside Juniors Football Club coaches, said: “As a Viridor employee, I know how important it is to the company to be involved with communities in the areas it operates and how Viridor looks to support important local community activities and charity work.

“And, as a coach for Chirnside Juniors football club, I know the funding provided by Viridor will certainly help the club moving forward for the future. The new training equipment for the club will be extremely beneficial in helping us to continue our development of our local young footballers.”

Viridor is committed to strong local partnerships and to supporting the communities in which we operate. Over the years we have supported hundreds of local good causes. The donations we provide have helped to enrich the lives of the local community in many diverse ways, for example providing sports equipment for small clubs, improving community buildings and pathways in public parks, and initiatives to help less abled groups.

Requests for donations can be submitted by any charity, cause or individual and generally range from £50 to £1,000 (maximum £3,000).
