Forth 1’s Boogie gives Viridor’s Mission Christmas partnership the thumbs up

From left to right: Cash for Kids Charity Executive Alice Edwards and Forth 1’s Marty and Boogie join forces with Viridor’s Alex Dunbar, Barry Neill and Indya Nisbet for Mission Christmas 2018.

Radio Forth morning favourites, Boogie and Marty have made a special visit to the station’s Cash for Kids distribution centre to thank representatives from Viridor, Scotland’s biggest recycling and renewable energy company, for their help with the 2018 Mission Christmas appeal.

Making use of its logistics expertise, Viridor has provided a team of five dedicated staff to work exclusively on collecting the thousands of toys donated by Forth listeners from more than 420 drop off points across Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians.

Viridor’s Bonnyrigg-based business manager, Barry Neill, organised the partnership with Radio Forth and explained why the company got involved:

“We wanted to get involved with a worthwhile Christmas appeal and saw the great work that the Forth Cash for Kids team does for families in need across East Central Scotland.

“When we met the guys, we realised that we could help in a big way with Mission Christmas as Viridor is an expert in logistics.

“As well as dropping off the collection boxes to more than 420 locations, we’ve been picking up the much-needed toys from the drop-off points daily.

“Up until 18 December, our Cash for Kids-branded lorries and transit vans will be familiar sight in the capital city and across the surrounding regions as we make sure every kind donation is picked-up from each and every location.

“We’re more than happy to play a part in making sure kids that might otherwise miss out have a very happy Christmas.”

Boogie said he was impressed by the contribution Viridor was making:

“What they’re doing is amazing. When you think about the volume of donations and the number of locations people can drop-off toys to, it’s no small feat to get these collected and brought back to the hub to be sent out to children for Christmas.

“The Viridor team are clearly experts who know what they are doing; they’ve come in to help us with Mission Christmas and they’re absolutely smashing it!”
