Scottish Premiership football team Livingston FC has joined forces with Viridor, Scotland’s biggest recycling and renewable energy company to support Radio Forth’s 2018 Mission Christmas appeal.
With the help of Viridor, the club has signed up to be a collection point for fans and locals alike who wish to donate gifts and help make Christmas Day different for children living in poverty in Scotland today.
The club’s Almondvale stadium joins a list of more than 420 drop-off points across Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians accepting items to be gifted to children of all ages.
The charity partnership follows the recent signing of a £112,000 three-and-a-half-year sponsorship deal between Livingston FC and Viridor. The company’s branding is now a major fixture at the team’s home, and has been added to locations including the two dugouts, the players tunnel and the directors’ box.
Viridor has also been named as the official collections partner for Radio Forth’s Mission Christmas this year. The company is using its logistics expertise to collect the thousands of toys donated by Forth listeners across East Central Scotland.
Viridor’s Bonnyrigg-based business manager, Barry Neill has been involved in the sponsorship of Livingston FC. He also organised the company’s partnership with Radio Forth and explained why he wanted Livingston FC to get involved in Mission Christmas:
“Viridor is proud and pleased to sponsor Livingston FC. It is an honour to be linked to the club and we look forward to our company being associated with the team in front of a new audience through televised matches on Sky Sports.
Livingston FC is also a family-oriented club with a great ethos, so I knew that the club would agree to make a difference this Christmas by supporting the great work that the Forth Cash for Kids team does for families in need across the region.
Chief Executive for Livingston FC John Ward said: “We think what Viridor is doing as part of Mission Christmas is amazing.
“Everyone at Livingston FC is more than happy to play a part in making sure kids that might otherwise miss out have a very happy Christmas.”
Up until 18 December, Viridor’s Cash for Kids-branded lorries and transit vans will be familiar sight in Livingston and the surrounding area as Viridor make sure every kind donation is picked-up from every Mission Christmas drop-off location.
